Jonathan Magana has been recognized as the suspect in the shooting of three Los Angeles Police Division officials on North Broadway, Mission Street Wednesday night. He was shot dead following a showdown at Lincoln Levels, authorities said.

The Hollenbeck station officials were called to the 3800 block of Broadway at around 3:50 PM on Wednesday to look for a parolee at large, LAPD Right hand Boss Al Labrada said. They found the suspect who would not follow orders. A K-9 unit was mentioned from the Metropolitan Division.

“LAPD officers used tear gas, but the man, who was identified Thursday as Jonathan Magana, 32, still refused to comply and at some point opened fire on the officers, LaBrada said. Police returned fire and Magana died during the confrontation.”

“Officials utilized gas on the suspect,” Labrada said, adding that: “At one point during the pursuit, the suspect left and terminated at the officials, injuring three … who are currently recorded in stable condition here behind me.”

They were taken to the medical clinic by ambulances and each of the three and expected to make due.

According to the LAPD, Magana was born on September 21,1990. He is 33 years of age.
